Last night I was woken up, by my wife hollering for me to wake up. She had woken minutes before me and was in the kitchen. She sounded panicked, so I got up and rushed to the kitchen only to be greeted by a wall of flames that I saw outside from our kitchen window. Our neighbors carport was on fire and up in a mass of flames.
It was quite a horrific sight!
I rushed to the phone to call the fire department; they had already been dispatched and were on the way. We looked to see how far the fire had spread. It was still only at the carport, none of the houses were affected.
We saw our poor neighbor outside spraying his house with the garden hose trying to prevent the spread. We were so grateful it had been raining all day. Moments later the fire department arrived and the fire was successfully extinguished. We found out later that the reason the flames were so large was because the cars gas tanks had exploded. We were so fortunate the fire was not worse. Though the carport suffered extensive damage and two cars were destroyed, no one was injured.
This whole incident made me feel a great sense of gratitude.
First of all I was incredibly grateful that no one was injured. I was also grateful for the powers that be, which were watching over the area and us. It had been raining which greatly prevented the spread of the fire, especially considering a gas tank exploded. The fire was contained to the area and there were no injuries. I was grateful that we were not the first to phone the fire department. Our neighbors were watching and responded when an emergency happened. We were not the only one in the neighborhood who called; all the neighbors were calling it in. I am grateful to know that they are keeping an eye on things and that we can all rely on each other. It is a wonderful feeling to know that when things go wrong, people will band together. I am so grateful that I live beside great people.
This to me was a lesson in gratitude, yes there was a fire, yes there was damage, but it is not a time to be depressed or upset. It is a time to be grateful for what you have and to realize that life is a gift and at anytime anything can happen and there will always be things that will happen that you can’t control. You should never panic or get depressed, you should take action and do what needs to be done no matter what and realize that people will help you. They are out there, wanting to help when you need it most. When they see trouble, I have faith that people will take action to help each other. That goes in all areas of life, especially business and personal growth. When things get you down and horrible things happen, remember to be grateful for everything that you have and everyone around you who is willing to give you a lift and help you raise up again.
Gratitude is so important in life!
We all have things happen to us that are not according to our plan and sometimes we have horrible things happen. It is important to be grateful for what you have and those who you have in your life. Let these instances be a lesson and a motivation for you to keep going and preserver in spite of anything that happens. Have faiths that everything will work out and that people and the universe are on your side.
These situation happen to test how convicted you are at changing your life and if you show gratitude and carry forth with more vigor and strength, then nothing will stand in your way. I know I will take from this experience gratitude and faith in my neighbors, higher powers, my wife and my friends. I am not alone in life, none of us are, and when we realize that and tap into it, there is no limit of our power.
So I ask you what are you Grateful for today?
