On Wednesday, March 17, 2010 iLearning Global destroyed the income and lives of
it’s network marketers, all with a single email. iLearning Global sent out an email that said “they decided to go with a retail business model and move away from the network marketing model” (which they designed their business around).
This one move shut down the income stream and shafted all it’s marketers. There was no real explanation and no advanced notice. In the email they quoted their policies and procedures and stated that they had the right to do this with 30 day’s notice. My feeling is that this may be the end of iLearning Global as a lot of marketers are also customers. I know a lot of people that have decided to end their subscriptions.
All though they had some good content, they lost their integrity with a lot of people. I feel that they didn’t really give the business or their marketers a real chance.
This is not the first time that a company has changed things in mid stream or disappeared over night.
There is a lesson to be learned from this experience.
If all you do is focus on building your company without building a strong relationship with your team, a person can be left in the cold if their company decides to change direction.
This is why it is so important to promote yourself first, build a list and strong relationships. By using a a great attraction marketing system you are branding you first. This way if something every happens that is beyond your control you have a strong relationship with your team, because people have had the chance to get to know and trust you.
The more of a leadership roll you take the greater your influence and ability to help your team.
The great thing about using a great attraction marketing system is the people you meet and the things you learn. One of the people affected by the iLearning Globals decision was David Wood. But, as a leader he didn’t let it affect him and made things happen in spite of the setback.
I’ve learned a lot from David over the last few months and these skills can be transfered to any company. If it wasn’t for using attraction marketing and building these relationships, I would be one of the people left in the cold by iLearning Globals decision.
If you were affected by the change in iLearning Global I would love to hear how you are coping. Remember that the sign of a true leader is the ability to pick themselves up and move on. This is a setback that has affected many and our true ability comes from learning and growing from the experience.
